Must-Have Element #6 "A Sense of Urgency"
Your direct mail piece should create a need to act now.
By Rob Carson

Create a need to Act Now
So, a person mailed your postcard to is now holding actually looking at your card. You've broken  his (or her) concentration, gotten his attention, and actually look at your mail piece. If you give a great reason to act now, and they are interested in your offer, this can be all that is necessary. Here are some ideas.
Think about your business. What can you highlight and offer for a limited time that is different or special? Some FREE information (must have real value)? A discount on one of your products or services? This can be a great way to draw attention to a new offering or an improvement on an existing product or service.
Using Coupons
Yes, it may seem that coupons are over-used, but we all love to feel like we got a great deal or more than we paid for. Also, using coupons naturally allows us to have expiration dates. The coupon may gives them a reason to act while they are thinking about it any y be just the ticket to taking them to the next step in your sales process.
Everybody loves a discount. Keep in mind that you don't have to discount your entire package or offering. For example, a Realtor can offer a Free Home Inspection on a home purchase. Or an auto repair company could offer a discount for purchasing 2 or 4 tires.
Create a targeted web landing page
Need to share more details than will fit on the mail piece? No problem! The mail piece usually works best just hitting the highlights anyway. This can give you two additional advantages.

1) It gives you the chance to add an additional "touch" to your prospect.

2) It can give you an opportunity to obtain additional information about your prospect (email, cell phone number, contact name) of those who actually have an interest in your offer. With this information you can keep in touch with them on a more personal basis.
Use an SMS text Lead Notifier system (Powerful Idea!)
Text messages have around a 98% open rate within the first hour!

Imagine sitting in your car and you see a home you may want to consider purchasing. You see on the sign where it says TEXT 1806 Brisbane to (301) 123-4567 so you take your smart phone and do it.

Instantly you get a text reply with a link to a virtual tour of inside the house you are sitting there outside and looking at. You watch the 1-2 minute tour and then a minute or two later, you get a call from the Realtor who listed the property asking if you have any questions, you'd like to see inside, or what you are really lookng for.
How could your business benefit from such a process? Don't just send out a mail piece, send out a more effective mail piece!

Add a QR code
I don't currently have statistics on how many people actually scan QR codes, but some will do it just out of curiosity if they are at all interested in your offering. Besides, it helps to show your Company is up to date with current technology. Every little thing you can do so give yourself an edge adds up.
If you have any questions, or if I can help you in any way, simply fill out the form on the right or feel free to call me at (301) 960-8000. I have a passion for helping small business owners and would love to talk with you!
